A New Type of Diet Guide | Can You DIG it?

Any general workout/diet tips toward achieving a boxer's physique?

I’m looking to start seriously working out, and have friends who workout regularly and ask me what body type I am trying to achieve. Ideally I would like to have a muscular yet lean physique, like maybe a welterweight boxer. I am 5’8" and at the moment about 178 lbs, with not a lot of muscle and more excess than I’d like. Any general tips?

to loose around 10kg of fat u seriously need to burn more calories then the amount you consume to get down to around 70kg which i think is the welterweight limit from then onwards you can concentrate on muscle mass but first u must loose weight as a result u mus burn more calories den the amount you consume and if your highly motivated jog 10km evry morning at least 5times a week jogging in the morning is the best way to loose body fat as if you consume a meal and jog your body uses the carbs you just ate as the main source of energy to burn whereas in the morning having not consumed any carbs your body will use fat as the main source of energy to burn. This is offcourse the first step to make the weight for a welterweight. But whilst burning more calories then the amount you consume never dehydrate urself as you will feel weakened.

well, welterweights are 147 lbs, so perhaps you are looking at more of a bernard hopkins physique? i weigh 177 and i do light weights 3x per week, lots of jumping rope, push ups, bag work and shadow boxing. i really watch my junk food intake. i have 2 days out of the week where i will eat burgers and stuff, but the rest of the week i don’t eat junk food. that being said, every body is different so you will find out what works for you.

It would depend what kinda body type you have right now if your endomorph, mesomorph etc..If you have more excess then you’d have to do more cardio (speed ropes, jogging) and eat less…to get a muscular type you’d have to get lean first..to get lean you have to shred all the fat by doing lots of cardio without losing muscles in the process….you have to balance your food intake, cardio, and weight lifting….really cardio is important…but you’d still have to lift weights because you need to maintain your muscles…

I personally don’t like jogging that much that’s why I prefer speed ropes…it’s more fun, you burn lots of calories and fat doing it, it gets you hear rate up faster and you can do it as a warm-up and as a cool down….a lot of boxers use speed ropes…
