The Right Weight Loss Program For You
If you, like many, are trying to lose weight, you probably want to do it as quickly as possible. However, before you begin, there are some aspects of losing weight you should think about. And you should always remember that any weight loss program you follow must include the types and portions of food recommended by the USDA’s food pyramid. This is most important as it will allow you to consume the calories you need to keep your metabolism functioning at an optimum level.
Goals Are Important
Any weight loss program that wants you to record your goals for losing weight is usually a good one to try. Many studies have resulted in findings showing that by setting goals and writing those goals down, a person is more likely to not deter from their diet and subsequently, meet their goals. The best way to go about this is to setting weekly goals that lead up to larger goals. For example, lose two pounds a week until you have lost 20 pounds in three months. This helps you stay motivated while on your weight loss program.
Calories
Every human body requires a certain amount of calories to function properly and any type of weight loss program will call for calorie reductions; however, an appropriate weight loss program will not ask you to reduce them to an unhealthy level. Doing this has the potential to stop weight loss in its tracks. Women are recommended to consume a minimum of 1,200 calories daily while men can cut down to no less that 1,600 calories daily. Keep in mind there are serious consequences to not consuming enough calories.
Exercise
Exercise is a great way to boost weight loss. Remember, one pound is equal to 3,500 calories so in order to lose a pound, you will need to burn off 3,500 calories. Most people do this by either eating less calories or exercising in order to raise their metabolism and burn off fat. Of course, if you are following an appropriate weight loss program, it will be suggested to lower your calories to a healthy amount and include more exercise into your daily regime. But be sure not to overexert yourself as this can lead to exhaustion and dehydration.
Remember
The state of your health should never be neglected in order to reach a goal weight while in a weight loss program. If you come across a plan that makes outrageous claims such as lose 10 pounds in one week, do not buy into it. These bottom feeders make their living from dishonestly profiting off the ignorance and desperation of those trying to lose weight.
A body works similar to a machine. Every category of food serves an important, unique purposes in maintaining good health. If you do not eat enough calories and exercise in an extreme manner, you are running the risk of having parts of your body shut down. Do not be taken in by gimmicks. An effective weight loss program will make you work hard, set healthy goals, eat right, and exercise. Nothing more, nothing less.
